Atmosphere & Location
Kona Café is located on the second floor of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, just off the Great Ceremonial House lobby. Its location makes it especially convenient for guests staying at the Polynesian, enjoying a Monorail resort day, or looking for a table-service meal near Magic Kingdom.
During our visit, the restaurant felt relaxed and inviting, with the Polynesian’s tropical atmosphere carrying through the space. It has a noticeably more laid-back feel than some of the resort’s busier dining experiences, making it a comfortable choice when you want to sit down, slow down, and enjoy a meal without the more energetic atmosphere of a character meal or larger family-style restaurant.
The restaurant also works well as part of a resort afternoon or evening. You can arrive early to explore the Polynesian lobby, enjoy the grounds, or take in the views around the resort before or after your reservation. For families, couples, and anyone building a flexible Magic Kingdom-area dining plan, Kona Café is an easy option to work into the day.
What We Ordered
We tried a mix of Kona Café favorites to get a feel for the menu—from a lighter sushi option to a classic steak entrée and the dessert that everyone talks about afterward.
Our goal was not just to see how each dish tasted on its own, but to get a better sense of whether Kona Café works for different kinds of Disney diners. Is it a good choice if someone in your party wants something lighter? Does it offer a satisfying entrée for the person craving a more traditional dinner? And, most importantly, is the bread pudding worth saving room for?
We ordered the Vegetable Sushi Roll, the New York Strip, and the Pineapple-Coconut Bread Pudding, then shared our honest reactions in the video.

Here’s what stood out from each part of the meal.
Vegetable Sushi Roll
Current menu price: $16
Fresh, colorful, and beautifully presented, this was an easy pick for a lighter meal. The current Kona Café lunch menu describes it with asparagus, carrot, avocado, cucumber, and roasted tomatoes.
New York Strip
Current menu price: $41
Cooked well with a satisfying, classic steakhouse presentation. This was one of the heartier choices from our meal and a strong option for anyone looking for a more traditional entrée at Kona Café.

Pineapple-Coconut Bread Pudding
Current menu price: $13
This is the dessert we would order again. Served warm with vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel sauce, it was rich, comforting, and the perfect sweet finish to our meal.
Is Kona Café Worth It?
For us, yes—Kona Café is worth considering, especially when it fits naturally into your Disney day.
We would not necessarily recommend traveling across Walt Disney World solely for this meal when you have a limited vacation schedule. But if you are staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, visiting the Monorail resorts, or looking for a relaxed dinner after a Magic Kingdom day, it is an easy choice to add to your plans.
What makes Kona Café work is the overall experience. You get a comfortable setting inside one of Disney’s most iconic resorts, a menu with options for different appetites, and a pace that feels more relaxed than some of the busier restaurants nearby. We enjoyed having a lighter option with the Vegetable Sushi Roll, a heartier entrée with the New York Strip, and a dessert that gave us a memorable finish to the meal.
The Pineapple-Coconut Bread Pudding alone is a good reason to save room for dessert. Between the warm bread pudding, caramel sauce, and vanilla ice cream, it was the standout of our visit—and the item we would be most excited to order again.
If you are deciding between a high-energy character meal and a quieter sit-down dinner, Kona Café offers a nice middle ground. It is especially well suited to families, couples, and Disney visitors who want to enjoy the Polynesian atmosphere without planning their entire day around one reservation.
