Disney’s Yacht Club Review: Is It Actually Worth the Hype?
Thinking about staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort? This resort is often praised for its walkable location near EPCOT, nautical style, and access to Stormalong Bay. During our Early Summer Walt Disney World trip, we experienced the good parts, an unexpected room problem, and the service recovery that followed.

Quick Verdict
Yes—Disney’s Yacht Club is worth considering if Stormalong Bay, easy access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a more relaxed deluxe-resort setting are priorities for your family. The room experience was not perfect at first, but the resort team listened, moved us, and made a meaningful effort to make things right.

Our Yacht Club Room Experience: The Good, the Bad, and the Resolution
One of the reasons we wanted to share this stay honestly is that it did not begin perfectly. After entering our original room, we noticed cleanliness concerns, including dust and insects. We brought those concerns to the resort team rather than simply trying to work around them.
The team moved us to a new room, and we appreciated that they addressed the situation directly. The new room gave us a better experience, including a view toward Stormalong Bay, and the management team also left an apology note and thoughtful items for our family.
Good to know: A problem at a Disney resort can be frustrating, especially at a deluxe-resort price point. Our takeaway is to inspect your room when you arrive and speak with the front desk promptly if something is not right. We were glad we did.
What We Liked About the Yacht Club Rooms
Even though the rooms we saw had some small visual differences, the layout was practical for a Disney trip. There was plenty of storage for luggage and clothing, a safe, a beverage cooler and coffee setup, USB charging options, double sinks, and a bathroom with both a tub and rain-style shower.
Storage That Works
There were drawers, hanging space, a safe, and room to keep luggage from taking over the floor—small details that matter on a family vacation.
Comfortable Sleeping Setup
Between the two beds and sofa bed, the room can be a workable fit for a larger family or group. The sofa bed was also easy to pull out.
A Smart Pull-Out Desk
The hidden pull-out table was one of our favorite functional features. It can work as a second table, a workspace, or a spot to spread out during a longer stay.
Nautical Disney Details
The updated decor includes subtle character and ocean-inspired touches, including a rug that feels like an aerial view of the water.
Is Stormalong Bay Worth It?
For many families, this is the reason to choose Yacht Club or Beach Club. Stormalong Bay is exclusive to registered guests of those two resorts, and it feels more like a small water-park experience than a standard hotel pool. During our visit, we enjoyed the Flying Jib, the 230-foot waterslide, and the lazy river.
Our Stormalong Bay tip: The lazy river is not shallow throughout. Check the posted depth signs before stepping in or getting onto a tube. There is a shallower entry area, but other sections are significantly deeper than the lazy rivers many guests may be used to.
If a memorable pool day is high on your family’s list, this amenity adds real value to a Yacht Club stay. Just remember that it is weather-dependent, and it is worth building in time to enjoy it rather than treating it as an afterthought.
Location, Views, and a Few Things to Consider
Yacht Club’s location is one of its strongest advantages. It puts you close to EPCOT, Disney’s BoardWalk area, and the restaurants and atmosphere around Crescent Lake. It is especially convenient for guests planning time in the EPCOT resort area.
Our room also came with a better view after the move, but resort views and construction conditions can vary. If a specific view, balcony, connecting room, or room location matters to your group, it is worth discussing those needs before your stay. A travel advisor can help make the right request, although specific rooms and views are never guaranteed.
Easy Boat Ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Another advantage of staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is the complimentary Friendship Boat service to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The boat travels across Crescent Lake and makes stops around the EPCOT Resort Area, so it is a relaxing alternative to taking a bus or driving to the park.
We especially like having this option on a Hollywood Studios day. It gives you a scenic way to get to the park, and the return ride can be a nice chance to slow down after a busy day. Just allow extra time, since the boat makes multiple resort stops and waits can vary.
Between the boat to Hollywood Studios and the walk to EPCOT’s International Gateway, Yacht Club is a particularly convenient choice for guests planning time in both parks.
So, Is Disney’s Yacht Club Actually Worth the Hype?
For us, Yacht Club is worth it when the value of the location and Stormalong Bay matches how you want to spend your Disney vacation. It is not simply a place to sleep between park days; the pool, BoardWalk-area access, and practical room features make it a resort you can enjoy as part of the trip.
Our stay also reinforced that a high-end resort can still have an off moment. What mattered was how the team responded after we raised the issue. They moved us, acknowledged the concern, and helped turn the stay into a much better experience.
We would stay here again—especially for a warm-weather Disney trip where we can make the most of Stormalong Bay.
