Are you eligible for the 7-day Lightning Lane window?
You can use the earlier 7-day booking window if you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel or another eligible select hotel. Disney specifically lists the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels and Shades of Green among hotels with this early-purchase benefit.
The important detail: the clock starts 7 days before the first day of your resort stay—not 7 days before your first park day. If you check in on a Sunday and visit Magic Kingdom on Tuesday, your window still opens the Sunday before check-in, at 7:00 a.m. Eastern.
Can you book Lightning Lane before check-in?
Yes. Eligible resort and select-hotel guests can book before they arrive. Once their 7-day window opens, they can make Lightning Lane plans for the length of their stay, up to 14 days. That is the practical advantage of staying at an eligible hotel: you can secure your early-trip and later-trip plans before off-site guests reach their 3-day windows.
What if you are staying off site?
If you are not staying at a Disney Resort or an eligible select hotel, you can purchase Lightning Lane passes 3 days before each park visit, beginning at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
For example, if your EPCOT day is Friday, your booking window opens Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. Eastern. If your next park day is Sunday, its window opens separately on Thursday. Put every park day in your calendar so you do not accidentally prepare for only the first one.
Annual Passholders and guests using tickets that are not date-based should also check their ticket eligibility. Disney says they may purchase passes for any day within the 3-day purchase window unless they qualify for the 7-day resort-hotel window.
What time do Lightning Lane bookings open?
Lightning Lane booking opens at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time on your first eligible day. This is Eastern Time even if you are planning from Puerto Rico, California, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else.
For most guests in Puerto Rico, that is the same clock time as Walt Disney World. If you are elsewhere, confirm the time-zone conversion before booking morning—especially around daylight-saving changes.
What Can You Book When Your Window Opens?
Disney offers three Lightning Lane pass types. Availability, pricing, and attraction options can change, but knowing what each pass does helps you plan with confidence.
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass: Choose up to three eligible experiences and arrival windows in one park before completing your purchase.
- Lightning Lane Single Pass: Purchase access to an eligible in-demand attraction. Disney allows up to two Single Passes per day, subject to availability.
- Lightning Lane Premier Pass: Get one-time Lightning Lane entry to each available Lightning Lane experience in one park that day, subject to Disney’s terms and availability.
You can purchase Multi Pass and Single Pass for the same day in one transaction. Premier Pass requires a separate transaction.
