Meet Belle & Gaston in Fantasyland

One of the best parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the chance to meet rare characters — like Belle in her classic blue village dress and Gaston doing what he does best: striking a pose and charming (or challenging?) guests.

We met Belle near her cottage, and she was all grace and warmth — perfect for a magical family moment. Gaston was greeting guests in his usual dramatic fashion in the walkway between Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern. If it rains, he typically relocates to a nearby covered area closer to his tavern, so don’t miss him even if the weather turns.

📍 Location Tips:

  • Belle appears near her cottage in Fantasyland
  • Gaston holds court between Be Our Guest and his tavern — look for him under cover if it’s raining

Our Rainy Night Experience at MNSSHP

We visited on September 9th, 2025, and yes—it rained. But the magic didn’t stop. We still picked up our treat bags, met characters, enjoyed rides with short waits, and ended the night with a peaceful boat ride back to the Grand Floridian Resort.

Rain Adjustments to Expect

  • ☔ The Headless Horseman might not ride due to weather. In this case he did.
  • 🎭 Some parades or shows were modified or delayed
  • 🕸️ Trick-or-treating and indoor meets continued as normal
  • 👻 Rain actually did not reduce crowds, given the previous party was completely rained out and thankfully some guests got to experience it again making our party a bit more crowded.

If you're wondering, is Mickey's Not So Scary worth the money even on a rainy night — we say yes, but with the right expectations and gear.

Circus-Themed Characters in Storybook Circus

Looking for playful character interactions and whimsical photo ops? Head over to Storybook Circus in Fantasyland during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This area transforms into a vibrant space where circus-themed performers and classic Disney characters have a character meet and greet in their special Halloween costumes.

During our visit, we spotted characters like Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy in full circus attire — perfect for families looking to add a splash of color and fun to their night. It's a less crowded area compared to Main Street or the hub, which means more time to enjoy the atmosphere and take adorable themed photos.

Rusty Cutlass Pirate Band — Live at Adventureland

One of the hidden gems at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the Rusty Cutlass pirate band performing live in Adventureland. These singing, joke-cracking pirates bring high-energy entertainment that’s fun for all ages — especially if you love pirate tunes and Disney-style improv.

We caught a full performance during our rainy night at MNSSHP, and the band didn’t miss a beat (even with the stormy vibes). If you’re looking for a break between trick-or-treating and parades, this is the perfect pit stop with a fun and interactive twist.

  • 🎶 Pirate-themed songs with humor and live instruments
  • 🦜 Kid-friendly jokes and playful audience interaction

Tortuga Pirates Roaming Near Pirates of the Caribbean

One of the best unscripted surprises during MNSSHP? The Tortuga Pirates roaming outside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. These characters aren’t part of a stage show — they wander around cracking jokes, interacting with guests, and delivering a truly immersive pirate experience.

We stopped by just before the parade and had one of the most memorable (and hilarious) moments of the night. These Tortuga scoundrels will compliment your costume, tell tall tales, and pose for in-character photos — all while staying in their salty pirate persona.

  • 🎭 Unschedule but frequent appearances near Adventureland
  • 📷 Great for candid pirate photo ops
  • 💬 Fully in-character improv interactions
