Planning a fall getaway to Walt Disney World? If you're visiting between August and October, one event should be at the top of your list: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or MNSSHP as you will see it abbreviated in most Facebook groups and social media platforms.

This beloved Magic Kingdom after-hours event transforms the park into a festive, frightfully fun celebration with exclusive shows, rare character sightings, trick-or-treat trails, and spooky fireworks—all included with a special event ticket.

Why Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Is My Favorite Disney Event

Of all Disney's seasonal events, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is my favorite. There’s something extra magical about roaming the Magic Kingdom in costume, collecting candy, and watching the park come alive after dark.

One of my personal highlights? Meeting Haunted Mansion's Madame Carlotta, who only appears during party nights outside the mansion gates, her wit and ghostly charm make her a must-see character you won’t find during the day.

🧛 Costume Guidelines & Candy Tips

One of the most exciting parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is that guests of all ages are encouraged to dress up! Yes—even adults can wear costumes, which is a rare treat at Disney Parks. Whether you go all out in DisneyBound style or opt for a full villain ensemble, there’s plenty of room for creative expression.

🎯 Planning Tips for 2025 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

If you're planning to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this fall, a little preparation goes a long way. With so much to see, do, and eat, here are our top tips to make the most of your spooky night at Magic Kingdom:

  • 🎟️ Choose a Weekday Party: If your schedule allows, go for a weekday party in August or early September. These nights tend to be less crowded than weekends or closer to Halloween—giving you more time for rides, shows, and treats with shorter lines.
  • ⏰ Arrive Early: Party guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM—even though the event officially begins at 7:00 PM. Take advantage of those extra hours to ride a few attractions, grab dinner, or scope out your parade/fireworks viewing spots.
  • 🎆 Don’t Miss the Big Shows: Try to make time for both the Boo-to-You Parade and Not-So-Spooky Fireworks. Each brings its own energy and Halloween magic to the night. We love catching the first parade, then settling in for fireworks right after.
  • 👗 Dress Smart: It can still be warm and humid in Florida through October. Go for lightweight costumes or DisneyBounding outfits that are breathable and theme-park friendly. You’ll stay cooler and more comfortable all night long.
Tip: Don’t overpack your night. Prioritize 3–5 must-dos—whether it's exclusive merch, meeting Jack Skellington, or riding Haunted Mansion in costume. That way, you enjoy more and stress less.
