First Impressions of the Grand Floridian Resort Studio

In the video tour we start by showing the entry area of the room, which includes the closet, storage space, and a mounted television across from the entry.

Like many Disney Vacation Club Resort Studios, the layout is designed to maximize space for families while still maintaining the elegant feel the Grand Floridian is known for.

The entry closet includes extra pillows and blankets for the pull-out sofa bed, making it easy to convert the space for additional sleeping arrangements.

Mary Poppins Details and the Missing Penguin

One of the design highlights shown in the video is the chandelier inspired by Mary Poppins.

The light fixture features small birds surrounding the chandelier — a nod to the famous “Feed the Birds” scene from the film.

Originally, these chandeliers included a small hidden penguin among the birds. However, when we looked closely during our stay, that detail was missing.

We later learned that in some rooms the penguin element was removed after guests attempted to take them as souvenirs.

It’s a small detail, but it’s an interesting piece of Disney resort trivia.

Sleeping Space and Room Layout

The video also highlights the overall layout of the room.

Grand Floridian Resort Studios typically include two queen beds along with a sofa that can convert into an additional sleeping space. This setup makes the room a good fit for families or small groups traveling together.

Because the ceilings are slightly taller than in many standard hotel rooms, the space feels more open even with multiple sleeping areas.

In the video you can see how the beds, seating area, and storage spaces are arranged to keep the room functional without feeling crowded.

Requesting a Mini Fridge

During our stay we requested a mini refrigerator because it holds more food than the smaller beverage cooler that normally comes with the room.

This is something guests can sometimes request ahead of time if they have dietary needs or medical reasons that require additional refrigeration.

For families staying multiple days — or parents traveling with infants — having extra refrigeration can be very helpful.

Bathroom and Deluxe Resort Amenities

The video also shows the bathroom layout, which includes a vanity area along with a shower featuring both a rainfall shower head and a handheld option.

As a deluxe Disney resort, the Grand Floridian typically offers upgraded finishes and additional amenities compared to Disney’s moderate or value resorts.

These details help maintain the classic elegance the resort is known for.

The Balcony View from Big Pine Key

One of the highlights of the room tour is the balcony.

Rooms in the Big Pine Key building include private balconies overlooking areas of the resort grounds and pool.

These balconies are a great place to relax after a day in the parks, especially during the evening when the resort becomes quieter.

In the video we show the view from our balcony and talk about how the size compares to other Grand Floridian balconies.

An unexpected bonus during our stay was being able to catch glimpses of fireworks from the balcony.

During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, fireworks are sometimes visible from certain parts of the resort depending on room location.

While this isn’t guaranteed with a standard resort-view room, it can be a fun surprise when it happens.

How These Resort Studios Compare to Older Grand Floridian Rooms

The rooms in Big Pine Key were originally traditional hotel rooms before being converted into Disney Vacation Club Resort Studios.

The renovation introduced updated furnishings, the Mary Poppins theming, and a more flexible layout for families.

The result is a space that feels both modern and consistent with the timeless style of the Grand Floridian.

Final Thoughts on This Grand Floridian Resort Studio

Room 9402 served as a comfortable home base during our stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The updated Resort Studio layout works well for families, the Mary Poppins details add a playful Disney touch, and the balcony provides a relaxing place to unwind after visiting the parks.

If you're considering staying at the Grand Floridian, this video tour will give you a helpful look at what these updated rooms are actually like.

Hasta la próxima aventura.
