Calling all Space Rangers! Walt Disney World has announced an exciting series of updates to the beloved Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin ride at Magic Kingdom.
These changes are set to launch in 2025, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! As longtime fans of the ride (we’ve scored Galactic Hero status more times than we can count), we know the tricks—and now we can't wait to see how this experience gets even better.
What’s New for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin?
This iconic Tomorrowland attraction is getting a major overhaul. Here’s what Disney Imagineers and Pixar have in store for guests:
Meet Buddy, the Support-Bot
Say hello to Buddy, a new character created to welcome guests at the start of their mission. This friendly robot will perform system checks, give pep talks, and even help you hone your blaster aim before the adventure begins. It’s a perfect opportunity to get your score-boosting skills ready.
New Ride Vehicles
Each Star Cruiser is getting a fresh design inspired by the bold colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command. They’ll now include real-time score monitors and more futuristic touches to enhance the experience.
Upgraded Handheld Blasters
No more wondering where your laser is pointing! The new handheld blasters will feature always-on lasers, vibrant sound, and light feedback, plus vibration effects—making it easier for younger guests (and pros alike) to hit those high-value targets.
Interactive Targets
Say goodbye to static Zs. The upgraded targets will now light up and respond when hit, taking the interactivity to a new level. Imagineers recently conducted a full playtest to refine these features, ensuring a more immersive and satisfying experience.
